Cool Dogs and Cats

By Stimulating Serotonin Production

The nutritional additives contained in Keep Cool influence serotonin production in the body. The individual components are described in more detail below, along with their interrelationships.

Tryptophan is an amino acid that occurs only in small amounts in blood plasma and cannot be produced by the body itself. It must be supplied to the body through food. Through the formation of the neurotransmitter serotonin, tryptophan has mood-enhancing and calming effects.

Tryptophan is absorbed into the brain via the blood-brain barrier. Since sugar promotes the uptake of tryptophan into the brain, it is important to consume enough carbohydrates through the diet. There, it is converted into serotonin through several stages.

Vitamins B3 and B6 are important for the synthesis of tryptophan into serotonin. First, tryptophan is converted into 5-hydroxytryptophan. This is then converted into serotonin by vitamin B6. Several other cofactors, such as the minerals calcium and magnesium, are also involved in the conversion. When more tryptophan is supplied than is taken up from food—for example, by administering Keep Cool—the production of serotonin in the brain also increases. This leads to balanced behavior in dogs and cats.

Another component of Keep Cool is the amino acid–like substance taurine.

Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid derivative. It is synthesized in humans and dogs from the amino acids cysteine and methionine. Vitamin B6 supports the synthesis of taurine from cysteine and methionine. Taurine occurs in high concentrations in the brain. It promotes the provision of GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system) and is therefore also used for sleep disorders, inner restlessness, and neurostress in humans and animals.

B Vitamins

Precursors for Enzymes

B vitamins belong to the water-soluble vitamins and serve as precursors for various enzymes. They are important for digesting sugars, proteins, and fats. Additionally, they play an essential role in the formation of blood, hormones, and neurotransmitters and are crucial for the functioning of the nervous system. The vitamins of the B-complex mainly act by activating different enzymes that often work very closely together. Therefore, a balanced supply of all B vitamins should be ensured.

Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is found in all living cells. It is stored in the liver. It is an important component of various coenzymes and plays a central role in the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Niacinamide supports the regeneration of skin, muscles, and nerves.

Pyridoxine, vitamin B6, occurs in low concentrations in almost all foods. Vitamin B6 is also water-soluble and cannot be stored in the body. It is mainly required for the breakdown of amino acids and thus provides energy to muscles. It also facilitates the absorption of vitamin B12 and is involved in the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin.

Vitamin B6 has significant prophylactic and therapeutic potential because it is heavily involved in amino acid metabolism, from which many endogenous substances are synthesized. In humans, it is known that a deficiency can lead to mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety disorders. These can be alleviated or completely cured with increased intake of vitamin B6.

Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is also a vitamin involved as a coenzyme in many metabolic processes. What is special about it is that it is produced exclusively by microorganisms. It is produced in the intestines of humans and animals by microorganisms. Vitamin B12 can only be obtained through the consumption of meat and stored in the liver. A deficiency in B12 leads to neurological dysfunctions such as sensory disturbances and dementias.

NEKTON Keep Cool

For Relaxed Dogs and Cats

The last B vitamin used in Keep Cool is folic acid, also known as vitamin B9. Folic acid is also a water-soluble vitamin that is poorly stored in the body. It is essential and must be absorbed through the intestinal mucosa from food. Its functions include regulating cell growth and synthesizing various amino acids. Folic acid has also been used to support the treatment of depression with antidepressants. Supplementation with folic acid can improve neurocognitive functions.

All the listed B vitamins have different effects on the nervous system. Together, they form the perfect supplement for balanced and relaxed dogs and cats.

The natural ingredients of Keep Cool also have a significant influence on the mood of dogs and cats.

Brewer’s yeast, for example, is rich in B vitamins and many minerals, including magnesium and sodium, which are essential for nerve signal transmission.

Hops are not only used for brewing beer but are also known for their calming and sleep-promoting effects. The ground hop cones of the female plant are used. They are applied in humans and animals for restlessness and anxiety.

Chamomile is also used in homeopathic behavioral therapy. It is especially used for animals that are hypersensitive to stimuli and pain or for extremely angry and irritable animals. The dried and ground flowers of the plant are used. It has a calming effect on the mind.

Ginger is a well-known spice and medicinal plant. The root of the plant is used. It is applied to treat nausea and vomiting. Additionally, it has a stimulating effect on the entire organism.

The effect of Keep Cool is achieved through the specially coordinated ingredients.
