NEKTON-Lori

Why does it settle shortly after mixing with water?

Our NEKTON-Lori was specially developed for Lori parrots, which in the wild mainly feed on liquid foods such as flower nectar, plant juices, and pollen. The composition and liquid structure of the prepared nutrient solution strictly follow the natural specifications. NEKTON-Lori also takes into account the special structure of the digestive tract and tongue of Loris. Loris have a long, narrow tongue, the tip of which is densely covered with brush-like papillae. When the Lori inserts its tongue into flowers, these papillae stand up. Nectar sticks to them and is thus absorbed. When retracting the tongue, it is pressed against the palate, and the sticky nectar is caught in folds of skin.

After mixing NEKTON-Lori with water, a sediment forms at the bottom. During feeding, the bird takes the sediment from the feeding bowl and retracts its tongue back into its beak. This process is repeated several times in quick succession while eating. When retracting, the tongue is rinsed with the water above, which prevents the beak from sticking.
