Our Visit to Tierheim Karlsruhe
A Place of Care and Hope
As part of our NEKTON donation initiative, we recently visited Tierheim Karlsruhe – Tierschutzverein Karlsruhe und Umgebung e.V.. The visit allowed us to see firsthand the effort, compassion and community support behind animal welfare in the region.
A Diverse Community of Animals
Tierheim Karlsruhe welcomes many animals each year — dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and even reptiles. These animals arrive through various routes: they are found as strays, surrendered by owners, or brought in due to challenging circumstances at home.
The mission of the shelter goes beyond providing space. It includes feeding, medical care, social interaction and the emotional support every animal deserves. The shelter relies entirely on donations, sponsors and volunteers, as it is not financed by the city.
Volunteers Make a Difference
We were particularly inspired by the dedication of volunteers who help walk dogs, interact with cats and care for small animals. Their involvement is essential not only for practical support but also for improving the animals’ quality of life.
The Importance of the Shelter
Animal welfare goes beyond basic care — it means patience, trust and giving every animal a chance for a better life. Tierheim Karlsruhe provides exactly this: a safe space where animals can recover, build trust, and ultimately find loving forever homes.
How You Can Help
The shelter welcomes support through donations, sponsorships and volunteering. Every contribution helps ensure that animals continue to receive care, comfort and hope.
We’d like to sincerely thank the entire team of Tierheim Karlsruhe – Tierschutzverein Karlsruhe und Umgebung e.V. for their warm welcome and commitment to animal welfare. 💚
