Product description
The composition of NEKTON-Nektar-Plus is oriented towards individual components of the hummingbirds' high requirements for nutrients and substances, where at the same time, NEKTON-Nektar-Plus has also become an excellent food mixture for sensitive sunbirds. The carbohydrates' composition reproduces flower nectar - which is the preferred source of nourishment for hummingbirds and sunbirds - and thus supplies these animals' metabolism with energy. Supplemented by vitamins, proteins, fats, major and trace elements, a balanced mixture emerges which contains all essential elements for these birds. We recommend a feeding tube for feeding. This ensures an extended shelf life of the important food components. A filling quantity of 40 ml is sufficient even to provide larger species with a single feeding per day. Under no circumstances should open feeding bowls be used, as this makes contaminations of these animals' feathers unavoidable.
Feeding recommendations
for hummingbirds: 13 g NEKTON-Nektar-Plus (1 measuring spoon) in 100 ml of treated, lukewarm (38-40°C) water
for lorikeets: 16 g NEKTON-Nektar-Plus (1 heaped measuring spoon) in 100 ml of lukewarm (38-40°C) water
A measuring spoon is attached to each bottle of NEKTON-Nektar-Plus. 16 g NEKTON-Nektar-Plus corresponds to a level measuring spoon.
When plumage colours fade:
Dosage 1 g NEKTON-R/Gelb (1 measuring spoon) is sufficient for 2 liters of prepared NEKTON-Nektar-Plus solution.
Storage:
NEKTON-Nektar-Plus should be stored dry and out of sunlight, between 15° and 25°C.

Recommendation:
Disinfect drinking vessels and food containers daily with NEKTON-Desi-Care to guarantee hygienic and clean feed!
Do not use a mixer or whisk to mix the nutrient solution as the vitamins can be mechanically damaged in this way. Only use treated, clean water!
The prepared solution is put into the feeding tube and covers the daily requirements of 2-3 hummingbirds or sunbirds. Increasing the amount of NEKTON-Nektar-Plus in the long-term can cause health damage to the birds. We recommend a feeding tube for feeding, which consists of brown Plexiglas and is almost fully impervious to UV light. This ensures an extended shelf life of the important food components. The rounded, sloping base on the inside of the tube enables the bird to ingest the food up to the very last bit. A filling quantity of 40 ml is sufficient even to provide larger species with a single feeding per day. Under no circumstances should open feeding bowls be used, as this makes contaminations of these animals' feathers unavoidable. As a result of the high protein content as well as the high ambient temperature, it should be noted that the food become acidified after a certain time. This happens faster, the higher the initial microbial content of the equipment and feeders used to prepare the food. Therefore, it is of great importance that intensive hygiene measures are carried out continuously to reduce the number of germs at the feeding.
Feeding tubes and any equipment or bathing bowls, etc. that come into contact with the food during preparation should be sprayed with NEKTON-Desi-Natural after thorough cleaning and can be refilled or used the next morning without rinsing.
Please note: It is possible that the sunbirds' feathers become faded. To avoid this, which can also happen to healthy and vibrant birds, we recommend adding NEKTON- R to the food of red feathered birds and NEKTON-Gelb to the food of yellow feathered birds.
